Weekly Wellness Tip - 10/14/2026
This week’s Weekly Wellness Tip is all about everyday hygiene habits to protect you from fighting infections or other health-related illnesses.
Two hygiene tips:
1.) Wash your hands often…and…THE RIGHT WAY! Our hands carry so many germs and we touch so many things throughout the day, so please remember that there is a RIGHT WAY to wash your hands.
a. Wash with antibacterial soap for at least 20 seconds in lukewarm water, especially:
i. Before eating or preparing food
ii. After using the bathroom
iii. After coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose
iv. After touching pets
v. After gardening or other outdoor activities like taking out the trash
vi. After being around someone who was sick
A sink and water may not always be readily available to you, so try carrying hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol) UNTIL you can wash your hands.
REMINDER: Hand sanitizer IS NOT a replacement for good handwashing.

2.) Focus on good home hygiene. The place we call home can also carry a lot of germs whether it’s door handles, light switches, faucets, TV remote controls, or countertops; cleaning these surfaces or appliances regularly helps stop the spread of germs. It’s important to clean and disinfect even more if someone in the home is sick or appears to be getting sick. Additionally, try to avoid sharing personal items like bath towels, razors, toothbrushes, washcloths, cups or utensils.
Remember…Germs are lurking everywhere.
